What's in the Bible Discount

We've got some great promotions to share with you from What's in the Bible! Our families have enjoyed What's in the Bible DVD's for a while now, and if you haven't checked them out, now is the time! Follow the link for a Valentine's Day discount!

Use Leftovers for Easy Pizza Bagels

This is a great opportunity to involve your kids in creating meals! One of the easiest crowd pleasers around. We had some extra mini bagels hanging around, and with a quick addition of pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni you are all set.  I like to add the pepperoni before the cheese so it keeps the cheese from going down the hole. I also prepare it on a cutting board and then place them on the cookie sheet it cuts down on the cheese baked on.  Makes for much easier clean up. 350 degrees for 15 minutes and you're done.

Free American Girl Ballerina Pattern

I am loving this series on American Girl Doll Clothes! I am having fun taking scraps from other projects in my past and putting them together. The golden satin is from a dress I made in high school. Sarah suggested I add the ribbon to the ballet slippers.  I was so excited the way it all came together. Of course with a change of fabric, you could transform this into regular doll clothes and skip the ballet part. The instructions are very straight forward. I hope that you really enjoy making this for your little one.

The free pattern for this outfit can be found here: American Girl Ballerina Outfit
The free shoe pattern is in the pattern for the American Girl PJ's.

The instructions are very straight forward.  I have included pictures for the darts on the leotard and the interfacing that I added to the shoes because I used satin.

Darts are needed for the opening to fit the contour of the bottom.

What the dart looks like pinned.

A finished, sewn dart.

Now for the Shoes

Cut the interfacing a little smaller the the material your are pressing with the bumps down, so nothing gets on your iron or ironing board.

If you want ribbon, sew it in with the first seam.

Happy Sewing!! ~Julia

Folding Paper Airplanes: 5 Free Patterns

Sarah and I were together last week, and her Natalie (just a reminder we both have 6 year-old Natalies) wanted to know how to build a paper  airplane. Unfortunately, the one I folded was a disappointment.  The next day we went to the Henry Ford Museum and found a whole section dedicated to building paper airplanes.

If you are anything like Sarah or me, you will end up creating
your own version of these neat planes :)

The Saturday Evening Post 1950: Who Will Be the First Up?

If you felt like deciding who was going to get the crying baby was a unique problem for you, here is proof it has been going on for at least 63 years. Norman Rockwell captured this age old problem. Who is going to get up and help that little tike. It makes me tired just looking at it, and I thought you may enjoy it, too!!
